Mark J. Kuehne, L. Ac.
Finding a profound love for the Taoist philosophy, his interest led him to the teachings of Traditional Chinese Medicine studying from Masters such as Dr. Yitian Ni, (a thirtieth generation acupuncturist) and Dr. Richard Tei Fu Tan, (a fifth generation acupuncturist).
Mark's education includes certifications in Emergency Medical Tech. Orange Coast College in 1985, Sports Massage School of Healing Arts in 1990, Holistic Health Care Practitioner American Institute of Oriental Medicine in 1991, and completion of both Acupuncture and Herbal curriculums at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 1995, becoming a Licensed Acupuncturist in the state of California the same year.
Mark's interest in health care started early. While still in high school he received his EMT having to wait until his 18th birthday to take the exam. His passion for the outdoors brought him to the mountains of Colorado where he learned to Snowboard with his brother. In 1987 they brought the sport back to California opening the first snowboard shop in June Lake CA, later becoming one of Mammoth Mountain's first snowboard instructors. Mammoth is where he also met his wife, a DC who inspired him to return to health care. He then moved to San Diego to study massage which quickly led him to acupuncture and herbal medicine.
Graduating in 1995 from PCOM, Mark established his private practice in Del Mar CA. In 2000, Mark and his wife Lily moved to Lake Tahoe, CA to combine their practices at the Lake Tahoe Wellness Center. Mark and Dr. Lily have also been pioneers in the athletic training program at Northstar Ski Area, treating work related injuries of both ski patrol and ski school utilizing their personal knowledge of these sports for the last 6 years.
Activities Mark enjoys include snowboarding, telemark Skiing, mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking as well as Tai Chi Chuan and Yoga.
