Class Schedule

Tai Chi at Lake Tahoe Wellness Center

There are three basic principles that are presented in each class; relaxation, balance, and coordination. From the most simple to the complex these principles of Tai Chi remain the same. This allows the beginner and experienced student to advance with every session. The beauty of the movements as well as the martial arts application are presented in a friendly and supportive environment.

Poi / Fire Dancing

Originally performed by the Maori people of New Zealand, Poi and Fire Dancing are a traditional performance art that is gaining popularity in modern culture. Poi balls are attached to chains and are spun in circles around the body. Tricks and moves can be learned and practiced with varying degrees of difficulty and skill. All ranges of skill and ability levels are welcome. Advanced students will have an opportunity to light up their poi and fire dance at the end of class. Fire staff lessons also available. Poi and staff will be provided.

Capoeira

Capoeira is a Brazilian martial art consisting of music, movement, and rhythm. The only parts of the body that touch the ground are the hands, feet, and head. Capoeira is a constant flow of movement as players explore creative interactions that range from dance to fight, while non-playing ones contribute through participation in the music. Players learn new instuments and sing songs in Brazilian/Portuguese.
