Emily Quinn, LMT & Certified Yoga Instructor
Emily’s interest in mind-body wellness was inspired by her work with traumatized children in residential treatment centers and psychiatric hospitals in Massachusetts. Versed in talk therapy through her degree in Social Work, Emily soon realized the limitations of her training, watching helpless as childrens’ life-forces faded into a daze of psychiatric drugs, making them incapable of accessing the link between their emotions and the corresponding feelings stored in their physical bodies, an integral part of permanently healing emotional trauma. This realization lead her to explore different ways to reconnect the mind and the body, understanding that this knowledge would first need to come from personal experience.
Consequently, Emily moved to Kings Beach in 2006, where she worked in social work throughout the north shore and Truckee until she was able complete her Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Teacher Training in 2007. Later that year, Emily attended the Phillips School of Massage, becoming a Licensed Massage Therapist. She furthered her yoga training in 2008, studying Yoga Therapy with Bo Forbes. Recently, she traveled to Thailand where she studied Thai Massage and Vipassana Meditation.
Emily feels incredibly blessed to be a part of the LTWC, helping our community realize we all possess the strength to heal ourselves, mind and body. Her yoga classes are aimed to bring feelings of peace, heightened self-awareness, compassion, and acceptance while deeply stretching and opening the physical body. Her massage sessions work to release muscular and emotional tension, detoxify the body, and improve the immune system through a combination of deep tissue therapy, acupressure and Swedish massage.
Aside from keeping Tahoe well, Emily makes sure to get out and enjoy the beauty of Lake Tahoe daily, and loves traveling, working with children, salsa dancing, running, and singing in some local bands.
